Prior to 2005 Alan worked for Connexions (South Yorkshire), Alzheimer’s Society, Norwich Union (Healthcare) and the Civil Service.

Alan currently holds a number of roles including doing some consultancy work with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a voluntary car driver with the Yorkshire Ambulance Trust, an invigilator with Barnsley Council, TV extra work (!!) and being a local adult and family court magistrate.

His key passion is supporting Cardiff City in football but he keeps a close eye on local football developments particularly the excellent progress of the tykes. Alan also attempts to play badminton each week to a poor standard!
